"Sn210" (sn210)

I broke my AW11 out of my father's garage this past Saturday after 4 long months of winter storage. Most of the snow has melted and the salt has safely been washed away. I checked the tire pressure (still perfect), unplugged the battery tender, and it fired right up.
My first order of business was to adjust the clutch pedal. Last fall, I noticed it was a little tricky to get the switch to engage to start it, so I though I'd check it out. Pedal height and free-play were within spec, but while I was stuffed up under the dash, I noticed the floor mat was a little high... Sure enough, I moved it back allowing the clutch pedal to travel that extra 1/4" to hit the switch clean every time!
The second issue I wanted to check into was the speakers. There are only two in the dash in my car, so it should be an easy swap to replace what I assume are the original speakers. I used my fancy new cassette adapter to plug in my iPhone and it actually sounded great! I'm going to leave them alone for now. For some reason, the left speaker cuts out for the stereo and regular cassette tapes (Appetite for Destruction is all I've got so far), but it's fine for my phone... weird, but livable.
Then it was off to the grocery store on the way home.
Ever doubt the trunk space of an AW11? Here's what 6 bags of groceries and a bottle of juice looks like (plus a bed sheet and battery tender). Plenty of room left, plus the frunk.
Then I took Sunday afternoon to change the brake pads. It only cost me $40 all around. This is what the caliper bolt looked like! I didn't need PB Blaster or a torch or a breaker bar, it loosened up with good old arm strength.
The pads weren't too bad, but for $40 why not?
Can you believe this is a 30-year old Japanese sports car that's lived it's entire life in New England? I love this car.
Representing Oppo and LaLD on the quarter glass. +10hp!
I also wiped down the interior. The guy I bought it off of dipped it in a vat of Armor All, so I tried my best to get that residue off. Then I happened to notice something on the tab to open the ashtray...
I popped it off and discovered the latch had broken off at some point, and some sort of epoxy goop was used for a shoddy repair :(
I can't have this in my car! I'm watching a replacement on eBay; $20 shipped. I'll need to replace the tattered shifter boot next, and I'd like to get a replacement passenger sunvisor. The previous owner had some sort of picture frame clipped on it, and it's left a couple of dents. Then a windshield, front lower facia respray, and a detail will take the exterior from 8 to 10.

That looks awesome. I love those things. There's a white one around the corner from my old house that hasn't moved in years. I want!

Wow, that's clean. I wish that a single bolt for mine could come off as easily as your brake ones did. FYI, there are also two speakers in the corners by the rear window.

I might have an issue then. I get the seatbelt buzzer behind my head, but I'm pretty sure I'm not getting music...

The rear speakers were only on the 87.5+ MK1B, I believe. My ‘86 AW11 doesn’t have rear speakers, but I got the plastic trim from an ‘88 and I plan to put speakers back there eventually.

I love! I had all stock stuff in mine as well, Ashtray and radio. Does your LCD screen work? Mine never did, Even swapping to a different radio.

The digital clock? Mine works! That's the only digital thing I've got in mine, I don't have any screens

Mine did too, I mean the little screen on the radio, it was a pain trying to figure out what station I had it on at night.

OH that screen! I think mine works, I haven't really used the radio all that much to be honest, just the cassette player.

Along with my usual Morning emotions I have at work, Wondering where is my coffee and my hatred for almost everyone of my coworkers, I now feel jealousy.
That is awesome!
